Sego Lily Cafe

Sego Lily Cafe is located in Bountiful at 305 North Main Street. This little house has been through a couple of different restaurants over the years, but it looks like Sego Lily Cafe is here to stay. My husband and I went there a couple of months ago, and I really enjoyed the experience. We started with the Butternut Squash Ravioli appetizer- this was accompanied by a brown butter sauce, a balsamic reduction, and parmesan cheese. Having made ravioli this past weekend (more on that later!), I can now fully appreciate the work, skill, and effort put into making these little gems. I liked the addition of the balsamic reduction- it put a nice twist on what I expected the ravioli to taste like.

My husband got the house Lasagna (consisting of layers of spicy sausage, pasta, marinara, beef, ricotta, and parmesan), which he enjoyed immensely (although, I have to admit, it is difficult to make any type of lasagna dish that has flavors that pop- flavors that give it a distinct flavor over the noodles, marinara sauce, and ricotta cheese- which is by itself, already pretty bland. If anyone out there has a new spin on this dish, PLEASE let me know!). I ventured out and got the Pomegranate Beef Teriyaki- this was unique blend of flavors, but REALLY good! The meat was tender and juicy, and rested on a plate of rice and matchstick vegetables, which soaked up the rest of the sweet-yet-salty pomegranate teriyaki sauce.

For those of you who are not aware, Bountiful doesn't exactly rival Salt Lake City in its selection of fine dining eating establishments, so it's nice to see someone trying to make a name for themselves in this small town. Actually, the owners of Sego Lily Cafe also own Salt Lake City's Caffe Molise (55 West 100 South), another amazing restaurant I highly recommend. Check it out!
