Kura Door Day Spa

The Kura Door Day Spa is located in the Avenues off of South Temple on 1136 3rd Avenue in Salt Lake City. For those of you looking for a new spa to try, or have never been to a spa before, I highly recommend trying this one out. It is fabulous.

The Kura Door is a holistic Japanese-style spa, with beautiful wood floors and Asian art/decor. When you arrive (15-20 minutes before your treatment, of course), you change into a robe and slippers, and then you sit and relax in their waiting room. There are drinks and light snacks available (water, tea, almonds, etc.), as well as interesting books. When I was there, I flipped through a book about Japanese bath rituals, which had a lot of pretty pictures, and was interesting to learn about. The Kura Door features the Ofuro bath, which is similar to the aformentioned Japanese bath rituals. I've never experienced one, but I would like to one of these days.

The best treatment I have ever had at any spa was at The Kura Door. Earlier this year, I went to the Kura Door and had the Deluxe Papaya Body Facial and then a one hour massage after that- I have never been so relaxed, or smelled so good in my entire life. After my treatment, I immediately purchased the Papaya Pineapple grapeseed body scrub AND the body lotion as well- you will want to do the same after you've smelled it!

Here is the explanation of the Deluxe Papaya Body Facial, linked from Kura Door's website, just in case you are interested: "Deeply cleansing, exfoliating, and hydrating; detoxifying and remineralizing; improves circulation. Your journey begins with a Papaya Pineapple body scrub containing Napa Valley grape seeds and pineapple and papaya enzymes that will provide a thorough cleansing and gentle exfoliation and will leave your skin wonderfully smooth and more receptive to the detoxifying and remineralizing properties of the aromatic Green Tea and Ginger Sea Enzyme Body Wrap to follow. Following the body wrap, relax as your body is massaged with our 'facial quality' protein enzyme papaya pineapple lotion, which will prepare your skin for the stimulating and deeply exfoliating final step of this treatment. Finally, the application of our exclusive Glycolic Polymer cream infused with cooling peppermint essential oils will increase circulation, will leave your skin glowing and your spirit renewed. Add a massage and make this a 2 hour treatment."

Are you ready to try the Kura Door now? It's one of my favorite spas in Salt Lake City. Do you have a favorite spa/treatment? Please share!

So a while back I was searching for a spa in SLC for Mark and I to attend on our anniversary this year and I thought this place looked awesome! I was planning on doing the cool bath thingy and a massage. But we are flying home the day before our anniversary, so I'm not sure if we'll still do it. Plus then it takes away time spent with the fam.

Also, I recently discovered something really cool: eyebrow threading. You should check into it, my eyebrows have never looked so pretty! :)
