Calling All Witches....

Last night I went to Gardner Village, a fun, little shopping district on 1100 West 7800 South in West Jordan. I'm all about the local shopping experience, and there are some fun, local shops in this unique area. Mainly I went because I wanted to check out the new foodie shop, Lorken Food Finery. I'm a definite foodie, and I could spend hours in a Sur La Table or any other food store given the opportunity. At Lorken I picked up some pumpkin soup mix, an "autumn" chicken noodle soup mix (with leaf and pumpkin-shaped noodles), and a bananas foster cheeseball mix (which you could use for a dessert cheeseball, french toast, pie, etc.). The place is full of fun cookbooks, seasonal delights, and pans/spices/food for grilling, baking, etc. There is also a large selection of pastas, vinegars, oils, and truffles. Cool stuff! AND they are setting up cooking classes right now. Let me know if you want to go!

It was really busy last night, too- Gardner Village has a ton of Halloween displays and activities for the whole family; I saw many kids (and adults) in costume. I think there was an extra emphasis on witches- I saw many women and little girls with elaborate witch hats; some were even totally decked out in a witch costume. Check out their website (listed above) for more information on all of the fun stuff going on at the Village right now!

I also checked out Sweet Aftons, the local sweets shop with one goal in mind- pumpkin fudge. I have yet to find a female out there who does NOT love pumpkin. I will eat pumpkin any time of the year, but it's especially fun to enjoy pumpkin-flavored dishes and treats in the fall. I bought a half a pound of pumpkin chocolate chip fudge (I think it was around $5-7 dollars, not cheap, but a good once-a-year treat). It was very good! Creamy, smooth, sweet, rich- all of those good flavors and textures that usually don't mean good things for your hips (or any other part of your body, for that matter). Oh well- off to the gym I go!

Pumpkin Fudge?!?! Now, that does sound divine! I have never heard of it before, never even knew it existed; I will have to track some down!
