Last Friday I tried the frozen yogurt at Spoon Me (http://www.spoonme.com/) on 532 East 400 South, right next to Cafe Rio. I'll give them kudos for a fun name and completely random toppings, ranging from Capn' Crunch to fruit to Pop Tarts. But they only had three flavors of frozen yogurt, which I found a little odd, compared to the plethora of ice cream flavors available at Cold Stone, Baskin Robbins, and the frozen foods aisle of any local grocery store. The flavors were Natural, Acai (pronounced ah-si-ee) Berry, and Green Tea. I was trying to be healthy, so I went for almonds and raspberries as my toppings with the Natural Flavor. The frozen yogurt was almost too sweet; I think if they could have dialed down the "natural sugars" a little bit and concentrated more on the texture, it would have been a home run.
It seems to be a better alternative to the regular, high-fat, high-calorie ice creams out there, though. The company claims that its products are fat free, only 90 calories per serving (but they neglected to say how much a serving actually was), and packed with live active cultures, vitamins, minerals, calcium, etc. And for the all natural people out there, there are no artificial: flavors, colors, or sweeteners. Zero table sugar, only nine ingredients. It was probably a better choice than going to the ice cream bash my office held earlier that day, but still.
Spoon Me also prides itself on being all natural with the Earth as well. Their spoons are made out of corn starch, and their "cups, straws, napkins, and garbage bags are 100% biodegradable in as little as 90 days" per their website. I don't know- I guess the spoons are ok if you just have to scoop soft frozen yogurt with it, but they snap during use when trying to consume anything slightly harder, like vegetables or meat. It was good, it was fun to try something different- but I think I'll stick to yummy places like Cold Stone and Bellisimo Gelato when I have my next cold treat fix.

I kind of thought the same, I was all excited for no-fat ice cream but was unpleasantly surprised by the weird sour flavor. They should have warned us.
I saw some of your cupcakes at church yesterday, didn't know who did them. They were way cute!
i love real frozen yogurt w/o sugar....but i love the most the kind that has lots of sugar.......oh gosh acai berry and green tea ice cream. what will they come up with next?
I'm glad you didn't like it either. I figure if I'm going to splurge on icecream it better be yummy!
Oh Jenn I just have to disagree.. :) I just can't get enough of Spoon Me! But if you don't like the sour flavor than I completely understand. Oh and it was so great to hang out with you guys the other night!!
Ah, dissolution in the ranks of taste! That's ok... just give it some time... =)
