I have been exercising more regularly lately, and I LOVE IT. I'm feeling stronger, and I'm having to lift heavier weights and push myself harder during my cardio workouts. But I'm getting kind of bored with cardio. I am going to an awesome kickboxing class on Monday and Wednesday nights at the University of Utah fieldhouse that totally kicks my butt; but I'm trying to figure out what to do on the 2-3 other nights I need to do cardio. I've tried running (which can be really, really boring sometimes, and really, really hard all of the time), cardio machines like the elliptical, etc. I'm also taking a Power Yoga class at the U of U fieldhouse- this is actually very challenging, because it is very difficult (for me, at least) to hold intense poses, balance movements, and stretch farther each class; I enjoy yoga, because I don't stretch that much anyways, and I feel like my flexibility has gotten better from taking this class.
But I'm trying to figure out some new and challenging types of cardio; something that will shock my body, and make me motivated to exercise. It's too wet and cold outside to go hiking in the mountains just yet, and I don't have a bike, so I'm trying to figure out fun ways to get my cardio in... any ideas? Here are some of mine-
-Soccer (I would love to play soccer again, but I don't know what opportunities are out there to play- any ideas or insights?)
-Bootcamp (a coordinated set of jumping jacks, jump rope, plyometric movements, running/walking, etc.)
-Varied intervals (work on a cardio machine for 8 minutes, do some sort of interval- jump rope, running ladders, etc. for 2 minutes, repeat 2 more times for a total of 30 minutes of cardio)

i jump rope for cardio all the time. it is super hard. try jump roping without stopping for 5 minutes straight, you'll see what i mean.
you've got to get a bike. i just got back from an hour ride. felt like 10 min it was so much fun.
I agree with the jump roping...it is amazing. I don't do it enough, but have in the past and it works!
I just recently started swimming to vary my cardio and give my running legs a rest. It is great! I go at the U, so we should go together sometime. I am also excited for soccer...yay!
I like your blog, it is cool to read your stuff. Hope you don't mind that I linked it to mine :)

I think you should train for a triathlon. Or at least train for something, but triathlons are my favorite. It gives you a purpose and a deadline, so every workout has to be meaningful. In a triathlon you get a really good full-body workout for the same amount of time it would take to train for a running race.
I love designing workout plans, if you ever want to get together. (I also like carrying them out with someone else.)
