I have another good sushi place for you to try- Happy Sumo at The Gateway. I met some friends there for lunch last week- which, by the way, is the BEST time to go; either at that time or early on a weeknight. I wanted to go the next night for dinner (I know, I know), but when I called, the wait was ONE HOUR (like every other restaurant at The Gateway, but STILL). This place has AMAZING sushi. The atmosphere is very urban chic.
Some sushi rolls we ordered that were good included: the Playboy roll (tempura shrimp, avocado, and cucumbers topped with tuna sashimi, Sumo sauce, eel sauce and tabiko), the Rainbow roll (crab and avocado rolled inside out, topped with five types of sashimi, including salmon, tuna, and yellowtail), the Caterpillar roll (unagi and cucumber topped with avocado tabiko and eel sauce), and the Cosmopolitan roll (tempura shrimp, cucumber, and avocado topped with salmon, hirame, lemon, lime, green onions and ponzu sauce).
This place is officially #2 on my "Top Three Sushi Restaurants" list - #3 is Benihana. I discovered #1 on my NYC trip over Thanksgiving weekend (more on that later) at a place off of Times Square called Haru, which has more sushi options than I have ever seen before in my LIFE. Happy raw fish eating, everyone!
