Cookie Monster Cupcakes

Cookie Monster cupcakes (or "Elmo," if you're my cute, little 2-year-old niece); who thinks up this stuff? It definitely wasn't my idea, that's for sure. It was an INSANE, LONG-SUFFERING process to create these little guys... but they were a major hit at my work's baby shower today. I'm not even going to post a picture- I'll give you the link to the recipe on my favorite food blog EVER, Good Things Catered. Just an fyi- this is an immaculate version of the cupcakes (my cupcakes did not look as good). This is just to give you an idea, so if you need a cute, unique idea for cupcakes, you can give it a try- good luck!

Some helpful hints for those daring enough to try- candy melts, silver cupcake cups and bright blue food coloring can be found at Gygi's. Bright blue sugar sprinkles can be found at Williams & Sonoma. I made the cupcakes one night and decorated them the next night- I highly recommend this; it helps spread out the work a little bit. It also helps to have an assembly line when putting the cupcakes together- one person frosts and puts sprinkles on the cupcake, another person inserts the eyes and Oreo... it helps move things along.

They are so cute! I am thinking a "monster" themed Birthday for Brett next year! I know, I am a bit crazy, it is only a year away! :)

Those cupcakes tasted and looked amazing! You need to post a picture of the actual ones you made. You can steal a picture from my blog.
