I went to a new dentist (Dr. Joseph Mirci) this week, and I really enjoyed the experience. My husband took a pre-dental orientation class from Dr. Mirci at the University of Utah, and he loved it. When I was looking for a new dentist (due to a change in dental insurance), my husband suggested that I try his old college professor. Dr. Mirci and his staff were very friendly and professional. I also had my first cleaning done by a dental hygienist (my old dentist always did it himself), which was awesome! The office was very nice and had all of the latest technologies (including t.v.'s in the ceiling).
Now, I'm one of those consumers who need to know everything about what is being done, and what I'm paying for- I like to know the details, regardless if I fully understand all of them; especially when it comes to my health. I really appreciate it when health professionals will explain situations to me so I can understand what is going on. I had a horrible past experience with a VERY dishonest dentist in Salt Lake City. I went to this dentist over a year ago (because my dental insurance changed, and I needed a new dentist), and he told me that I needed a root canal and all of my teeth capped. I cried right in front of this guy, and he did not care. I could not understand how my teeth could be that bad; I had just gone to my old dentist six months ago, and he didn't tell me I need any of those things.
After that appointment, I went back to my old family dentist, and I went to Dr. Mirci for two separate opinions on the apparantly awful state of my teeth. They both told me that I did not need a root canal, and that I did not need (and was too young) to get my teeth capped. Ever since then, I have been very wary of health professionals taking advantage of me because I am not thoroughly educated in their fields. But Dr. Mirci- awesome guy. Very kind, very approachable, and very professional. Here is his contact information- if you need a new dentist, this is definitely a guy to try out!

That is too funny! I actually made an appointment with him for tomorrow!! I've heard from a couple people he is pretty amazing!
