We visited our friend, Holly and her cute baby, Lilia, in Washington, D.C. over the 4th of July weekend.
We were able to see some of the sights- Holly lives 5 minutes from Arlington National Cemetery.
We saw the changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
There are tons of memorials all over the cemetery- this was the Civil War Memorial- in the tomb are the remains of over 2,000 Civil War dead.
This is Robert E. Lee's home - at the top of the hill of the cemetery.
We saw the Iwo Jima monument...
Stephen and Lilia
This is a picture of Brooke, Holly, Lilia, and I at the Bilbo Baggins International Restaurant in Alexandria. I love these girls!
Stephen got a crazy seafood salad- with octupus, clams, and other wierdness. I could not bring myself to try it. Gross!
We also went to the Lavendar Moon Cupcake Shop- and we tried Peach Basil cupcakes- so good!
We also went to the Ford Theater- where Lincoln was assassinated. This is a picture of the presidential box in the theater- and where Booth jumped onto the stage after shooting Lincoln.
We also walked around the memorials and monuments downtown- here's the Washington Monument.
We walked by the White House (they were having quite the party in the backyard, getting ready for the 4th of July festivities)...
At the Vietnam War Memorial...
At the Lincoln Memorial...
At the Korean War Memorial...
At the World War II Memorial...
In downtown Georgetown- such a fun, hip place! Lots of shops and restaurants...
We enjoyed the style of the houses in Georgetown- there were all of these different townhouses with unique styles and colors of brick.
I loved these door knockers.
Lilia is such a smiley, happy baby!
We visited the Washington, DC temple and Visitor's Center as well. They had this cute replica of a home.
Complete with living room...
The Washington, D.C. temple is gorgeous- and HUGE! We really enjoyed our visit to Washington, D.C.
