One fish, two fish...

So, last Monday we celebrated Martin Luther King Day by going fishing with some friends- slash- fellow dental students, Larry and Melody. (By the way, why do we get a day off of work/school for Martin Luther King Day, but not President's Day? Such is the South...) We went fishing in the estuaries (rivers just off of the ocean) in the Isle of Palms (a beautiful area next to Charleston).
My husband, the fisherman- he was in heaven...

He caught one fish that day. I learned that winter is a good time to fish for a couple of reasons, two being- the fish are HUGE and there are schools of them everywhere in the water! We also saw groups dolphins feeding along the river- that was really cool.

I am proud to say that I, the first-time "in the wild" fisherwoman- caught not one, but two fish! I was pretty proud of this, since most of my prior fishing experience had been at the fish farm in Ogden, Utah, where you catch fish with a piece of leather on the end of the fishing pole that "looks" like the feed they give the fish in the pre-stocked ponds. Don't get me wrong, I loved going to the fish farm growing up- about one hour of fishing was all I could really handle. I was nervous about how I would handle a full day of fishing, but it ended up being really fun. I'm glad I went! Plus, catching two huge fish didn't hurt, either. =)
My other fish- isn't it so awesome?

Thanks for a fun day trip, Larry and Melody!
