Watermelon Feta Salad and some Southern words and pronunciations of note

Good evening, everybody. Sorry for the delay in getting another post up. The last couple of months have been a little rough and full of adjusting to change, but I'm getting through it! =) Here are some common Southern words and pronunciations of note:

1. Oil is pronounced "ohl." I was cooking with a friend and she asked me to get out the "ohl" and I had no idea what she was talking about.
2. Ya'll is used more times than I care to count; it can sometimes be too much.
3. Ma'am and sir are used ALL the time; they're all about manners down here.
4. On is pronounced "uoooohn" - I'm not sure how to describe this- it's interesting. You just have to hear it, I guess.

Here's a great salad that I made for dinner this last week that was truly phenomenal. It's always nice to find healthy, good tasting recipes. My suggestion- don't try to substitute any of the ingredients for this salad- everything goes SO well together. It has this awesome mixture of salty and sweet, and it tastes fresh and absolutely delicious.

Watermelon Feta Salad
4 oz feta cheese, crumbled
2 lb watermelon, cut in bite size pieces
8 oz grape tomatoes, cut in half
3 Tb olive oil
2 tsp white balsamic vinegar
1/2 tsp salt
3 cups arugula greens (about 5 oz)
1 cup sliced red onions

Whisk oil, vinegar, and salt to blend; set aside. Place arugula, onions, and tomatoes in a salad bowl. Add vinaigrette; toss to coat. Add cheese and melon; serve.

Yay, a new recipe! I love all your recipies, we will have to give this one a try. I also liked your list of Southern words, I bet it takes some getting used to. The Neeley family reunion is coming up and I know the kids are going to miss having Stephen there. They always like to run around and play with him. I will miss seeing you. Hope all is going well for you guys!

I completely understand the "ya'll" I catch myself saying it sometimes and try to curb it. I think if your family is Southern it's in your blood or something. :)
